OPENING: CLM – Technical Service Manager

Summary:

The Transportation & Logistics Manager is responsible for all daily operations that ensure that all customer orders are accurately shipped on-time. The Transportation & Logistics Manager is also responsible for selection and management of outbound carriers used by the company while ensuring the lowest cost with the lowest defect rate possible.

Essential Functions:

  • Promotes a safe work environment and ensures that employees wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas
  • Manage the activities of the shipping team and follow established procedures and approved processes
  • Hire, train, direct and mentor staff and all shipping team employees
  • Supervises work order pick releases and provides impeccable customer service to impacted areas
  • Ensures that all orders are accurately shipped on-time
  • As needed, performs detailed root causes of shipping delays
  • Supervises scheduling of trucks (LTL, TL, & Parcel) and ensuring that pick-ups are made as scheduled
  • Ensure a high degree of detail and focus in the departments adherence to following the Work Instructions and leads by example
  • Must think proactively and acts to resolve issues quickly by addressing the root cause of the issues
  • Maintain strong links with 3rd party suppliers through regular meetings and ensure that any issues are being addressed
  • Negotiate trucking contracts with relevant parties to ensure freight costs are competitive
  • Act as communication interface between Customer Support and Shipping personnel
  • Responsible for ensuring all training is conducted and records of training are accurate an up to date, evaluates training needs, training effectiveness and the timely completion of all training

Skills & Abilities

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years materials or warehouse management in a high-performance manufacturing facility required
  • Computer Skills: Skilled with Warehouse Management Systems and ERP/MRP systems (AS400/PRMS preferred), MS Office suite including high proficiency with Excel
  • Certificates & Licenses: APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or equivalent certifications preferred
  • Other Requirements: Experience with Operational Excellence methodologies, including line balancing concepts, level loading and sequencing to achieve optimum efficiency with minimal cost impact. Must have experience as a self-directed, technical leader and problem solver with the ability to handle multiple daily priorities in a fast-paced environment to achieve results. Ability to lead and develop people utilizing excellent communication skills
