The Quality Specialist is responsible for activities related to the application and maintenance of quality assurance management system, standards and requirements. With direction from the Quality Manager, the Quality Specialist performs functions as assigned and assesses conformity of product and processes to specifications, standards, and instructions as well as measuring and test equipment. Contributes to improvement in the Cost of Quality by promoting safety and quality. Works with other departments for management system documentation. The Quality Specialist performs these duties with minimal direction and supervision.
Education: Associates degree in related field preferred; or a minimum of 6 years related experience and/or training in quality; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: 3-6 years of plant level operations with 6 years quality experience in a high mix/medium volume environment is preferred.
Computer Skills: Microsoft office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Familiar with viewing data in MRP/ERP systems.
Other Requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, wire diagrams, work instructions, engineering and manufacturing decoders as well as train others in understanding these documents. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
