OPENING: CLM – Engineer Controls & DDC Logic


Controls Engineer – DDC Logic is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the controls systems for HVAC products that meet or exceed best-in-class performance. Position will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary product development and product support team. Firsthand knowledge and experience in the areas of software development, software development tools, product life cycle management process, software modelling techniques, software testing, design for manufacturing, etc. are required. Will employ a balanced combination of advanced analytical techniques and experimental methods. Prime responsibility is software development but is also expected to have a competent working knowledge of hardware electronics, hands-on skills with the lab/diagnostic equipment and tools, and familiarity with a stage gate product development process.

Essential Functions:

  • As a fully active member of a product development team, the candidate will be responsible for developing appropriate software designs, product qualification, agency certifications, design documentation, etc.
  • Support system design engineering, product engineering, manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality and supply chain functions
  • Provide measurable contribution to several NPD projects and sustaining initiatives, as well as help supporting legacy products through their complete life cycle
  • Support manufacturing relating to wiring, power and control logic interface with vendors, customers and field personnel

Skills & Abilities

  • Education: Associate Degree in Engineering, or related field, preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of product development experience
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of HVAC control system design and applications
    • Direct Digital Controls (DDC) program development
    • Experience developing and implementing unit tests
    • Multi-Protocol Controller (MPC) program development
  • Other Requirements:
    • Programming languages C, C++, assembly, and Visual Basic
    • EIKON logic, Java, Graphical Programming
    • Experience with defect tracking systems, version controls systems, requirements capture
    • Project management experience
    • Knowledge of IP, BACnet, LONtalk, and ModBus communication protocols
