Position Summary

The candidate will be a member of the Design & Drafting Services Team, an integral part of the ClimateMaster Engineering Organization. Responsible for generating designs, models, drawings and specifications for components, subassemblies and assemblies for the HVAC systems that meet or exceed best-in-class performance and reliability targets, across the multiple platforms and products. Create Bills of Materials (BOMs), provide BOM/drafting support for the existing product lines and assist in the processing special-order requests. The candidate will have firsthand knowledge and experience in the areas of mechanical & electrical system drafting concepts, design and applications; industry standards and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work in a team environment to design and optimize HVAC systems and components employing state-of-the-art modeling software & drafting principles, including (but not limited to) sheet metal fabrication, piping and component layout, wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
• Create documentation & BOMs to facilitate the HVAC systems manufacturing process
• Provide guidance and technical details for building prototypes, expediting special orders and effectively assembling products in manufacturing environment
• Assist in a real-time root cause analysis (RCA) and problem resolution for products flowing through the manufacturing assembly lines
• Interface with the manufacturing personnel in optimizing assembly methods and streamlining manufacturing processes
• Generate system and component drawings, specifications, summary reports and standard work instructions
• Present work status to the engineering team and immediate supervisor
• Support Manufacturing, Technical Service, Quality, Supply Chain and Marketing personnel in problem resolution and customer inquiries

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Education: High School Graduate with Technical School Degree and/or Equivalent Experience
• Experience: 5+ years with Pro/E design; experience in a relevant field is a plus
• Computer Skills: Pro/E expertise, other relevant Solid Modeling Software experience is a plus (although not required), AutoCAD software experience, Familiarity with basic functions of Microsoft Office programs

• Relevant mechanical and electrical system drafting/design expertise
• Solid understanding of engineering drawings and wiring diagrams
• Familiarity with product development process and design for manufacturing and assembly
